Overview

Speckled Action was made (by three people) for the computergraphics 2/3 course at the Technical University Vienna, where it placed second in the final competition (beside two other games). You can take a look at the Hall of Fame 2003.

The goal of the game is to collect a given amount of rings before your competitors do. To reach that goal you are controlling a giraffe. To make your life a bit harder, enemies are running around.

Technical Details

The game was programmed with OpenGL und C++ (and was completed in four months).
It uses multipass multitexturing for the terrain. The water was done with an animated mesh. It also has a particle system, projected shadows, a milkshape modell loader and makes use of display lists and vertex arrays.

The graphics and gameplay coding was my area of work.

A glance at the characters

Here are two characters that appear in the game.

Gusēti & Groggy
The giraffe is Gusēti. She is the star of the game. And there is Groggy. A crocodile with a bad mood.
All characters where done by team member Simone Kriglstein. The other enemies are an ant pirate gang, a tricky scorpion and a viperous snake. A dolphin has also a guest appearance. But heīs not dangerous.
