Wednesday, August 18. 2010ICGG 2010 - Kyoto![]() I attended the International Conference on Geometry and Graphics (ICGG 2010) which was held in Kyoto, Japan this year. Two papers which I have co-written got accepted, namely Algorithms for Generation of Irregular Space Frame Structures and Force Directed Near-Orthogonal Grid Generation on Surfaces. Btw: its not Kyoto in the image. Tuesday, September 15. 200914th Colloquium of the CSGGThis years colloquium of the Croatian Society for Geometry and Graphics was held in Velika, near Pozega and the Nature Park Papuk.
This time I also uploaded the slides (pdf, approx. 11 mb) of my presentation about Problems with Hemispherical Projections for Visibility Determination. After the break there are some photos of the location. It was about graphical representation about mathematical concepts.
Breaking with tradition there are no photos of the location this time, instead you can find some images of the presentation after the break. These images where originally made for the book Bilder der Mathematik from Georg Glaeser and Konrad Polthier which will be released in November this year. I added the paper as well as a high resolution screenshot to the publication list.
Here are also some photos which I took in Tunisia. Continue reading "ROGICS '08" Friday, September 21. 200712th Colloquium of the CSGGFrom September 16 to 20 I have attended the 12th Colloquium of the CSGG in Vukovar. I gave a lecture about Adaptive Mesh Subdivision for Radiosity.
As always here are some photos which I took during my stay. My talk was about shadow volumes with the following outline: Importance of Shadows, Basic Concepts (z-pass, z-fai), Silhouette Detection, Shadow Volume Extrusion (Point Light, Directional Light), Application for Shadow Profile Generation.
Here are some impressions from the trip: Continue reading "1st Croation Conference on Geometry and Graphics" Tuesday, September 6. 2005Mind the GapppBetween 19th and 21th August I participated at the Gappp Workshop in Copenhagen. A workshop about video games. I know, that's quite a while ago, but I had much work to do in the last days. The workshop addressed some interesting topics, like player language or open source game development. Maybe I will post more on this later. In the meanwhile ...
Here are some photos which I took during my stay. Continue reading "Mind the Gappp" Wednesday, April 27. 2005Photos from USATuesday, April 26. 2005Back from the USAI have been to the CHI 2005 where I and Simone Kriglstein took part in the Student Design Competition. Although we did not get into the final round, the conference was quite exciting. Beside several other talks I attended the Serious Game SIG and a roundtable discussion about games, which I think was spontaneously held by the people from Microsoft Games. In the closing plenary there was a fascinating talk from a guy (canīt remember his name) from Steim, about electronic music.
In Portland (where CHI 2005 was held) I visited the Japenese Garden and the Chinese Garden and did some shopping (shopping in Portland is tax free!). After the conference I stayed some additional days in the United States and traveled to San Francisco and Los Angeles. San Francisco was very enjoyable and ranks high now on my most-favourite-cities-in-the-world-list. Los Angeles was also fascinating, but is in my opinion more a city for cars than for people. Some photos are following. |
